Flags off the first batch of market-ready products
Garment factory is built at a cost of Rs 6 crore 90 lakh
Raipur, 18 September 2023/ The Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the Bijapur Garment Factory located at Itpal. On this occasion, he also spoke with the women employed at the garment factory and inspected the current textile manufacturing operations there. The first shipment of goods from the factory that were ready for the market was flagged off by Mr. Baghel.
The main sources of livelihood for the villagers living in Bijapur district are agriculture and forests. And considering the migration of rural people to other states for employment because of the lack of industry in the district, the district administration of Bijapur established a garment factory as a business model for stable livelihoods and women’s empowerment. The garment factory is a business model of the district administration to provide employment to a maximum number of beneficiaries at a minimum cost. On account of it, the maximum number of beneficiaries can be provided employment by setting up a garment-based industry in less time and at less cost.
For setting up a garment factory, discussions were held with the country’s big garment brands like Myntra, Max, Dixcy, etc. The representatives of Dixcy and Myntra companies visited the district and agreed to establish the factory. The garment factory is built at a cost of Rs 6 crore 90 lakh 27 thousand.
The counselling of 800 women to work in the garment factory was started, and training was provided to 200 beneficiaries. In June 2023, it was decided to start the production of vests at the District Project Livelihood College with 70 women by signing a 5-year contract with Dixcy Company.
