Raipur, 14 September 2023/ Grand celebration of Teeja Pora Tihar was organized at CM House today. On the invitation of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, thousands of women arrived at CM House dressed in traditional attires to celebrate Teeja-Pora. On this occasion, Chief Minister’s residence was decorated in traditional Chhattisgarhia style. Various rituals of Teeja-Pora Tihaar from serving ‘Karu Bhaat’ to ‘Bidaai’ (farewell ceremony) were performed for the Tijaharin sisters at the Chief Minister’s residence. A magnificent temple of Mahadev was made for the sisters to perform customary rituals. Arrangements of mehendi and makeup were also made so that the women may enjoy ‘Saaj Shringar’ on the occasion. The women present there performed puja along with the Chief Minister. For Karu Bhaat, bitter gourd gram curry, kadhi along with thethari, khurmi, bada, sohari and other Chhattisgarhi dishes were served.

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel enjoyed Raichuli swing with his family

A group of Chhattisgarhi folk artists staged a unique performance with Chhattisgarhi songs and music. Women enjoyed dancing to the songs like ‘Tija Pora Ke Tihar Bahini Neek Laage Mor and Gada Gada Johar…’. Raichuli swing was also put up near the main gate, which the women enjoyed immensely. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel also enjoyed the Raiculi swing with his family. Mothers and sisters were excited to take selfies with the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister’s residence decorated in traditional Chhattisgarhia style

Chief Minister’s residence was decorated in a traditional manner for the Teeja-Pora Tihar program. Symbols of Chhattisgarhi rural culture and life as well as Teeja-Pora festival were significant aspects of the theme of the decoration. The main gate was decorated with traditional Nandiya Baila of Pora festival. The gallery was given an attractive look with colorful fringes. The walls were decorated with panoramic paintings related to rural culture. Chhattisgarhi traditional jewelery was also displayed here.

Women enjoyed applying mehendi on their hands and mahur on their feet

To further add to the joy and festivities, special arrangement of mehendi, mahur and makeup were made at the Chief Minister’s residence for the Tijaharin mothers and sisters. The thought behind these grand arrangements was to give homely feel of ‘Mayka’ to these women on this occasion of Teeja-Pora Tihaar. Women were overjoyed by the pampering offered to them at CM House today.
