Governor Mr. Biswabhusan Harichandan marked International Plastic Bag Free Day by issuing an order to the officials for a complete ban on single-use plastic at Raj Bhavan. Fabric-based alternatives will replace plastic materials, with a preference for cotton bags or jute bags. Highlighting the urgency to tackle plastic pollution, he emphasised that changing the mindsets of people and actively reducing plastic use are crucial. Carrying cotton or jute bags while shopping is encouraged to combat plastic pollution. With nature as the protector of humankind, it is imperative to take small steps for preserving the environment and securing a sustainable future for all.
Governor Mr.Harichandan calls on the people of the state and the country to take a pledge against the use of single-use plastic and collectively strive for a better environment on Earth. He directed the officials to enforce a complete ban on single-use plastic at Raj Bhavan, promoting the use of cotton or jute bags instead.
