Whenever we fall ill, the burden of expensive hospital fees and a long list of costly medications weighs heavily on our minds. It becomes a difficult time for vulnerable segments of society including poor labourers and farmers, who often exhaust their hard-earned income on exorbitant medical treatments to save their or family member’s lives. In such challenging circumstances, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Dr Khoobchand Baghel Swastyha Sahayata Yojana have emerged as significant support systems for impoverished patients. In total, 13,672 beneficiaries in the Jashpur district have availed the benefit of free-of-cost treatment under these schemes, which amounts to a sum of Rs 13.78 crore, from various hospitals.
