Better employment opportunities on a local level are available for people

Raipur, 3 July 2023/ The state government is executing various programs to enable industries like pisciculture and cattle-rearing to progress in rural areas. These measures are taken by the government to strengthen the rural economy and provide employment opportunities for people on a local level. Products and waste materials obtained from agriculture and livestock farming are utilised locally in farming and other industries.

Under the Godhan NYAY Yojana, cow dung and Gaumutra are being purchased from rural livestock farmers in Gauthans at Rs. 2 per Kg and Rs. 4 per litre, respectively. While cow dung is used in manufacturing vermicompost in organic farming, Gaumutra is used for making pesticides. More than 1 lakh 30 thousand women from 25 thousand Bihan groups in more than 8 thousand Gauthans in the state are engaging in various livelihood-generating activities.

Besides the traditional livelihood-generating activities, works like Badi, poultry farming, goat-rearing, dairy, and pisciculture undertaken in Gauthans have also strengthened the economic condition of the villagers. Pisciculture is conducted by storing fish seeds in the ponds situated in the vicinity of these Gauthans. The cow dung obtained in Gauthans is used to prepare natural fish feed. Measures like providing training to beneficiaries, distributing ice boxes and boat nets, etc. are also endeavoured for the sale of fish. Pisciculture is conducted in the ponds of 1753 Gauthans in the state, enabling the creation of 8,775 jobs. Assistance is provided to groups through intensive pisciculture, biofloc, etc. in these ponds.
