Chief Minister pays tribute to Pandit Madhavrao Sapre on his birth anniversary

Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel paid tribute to the esteemed father of journalism and literature in Chhattisgarh, Pandit Madhavrao Sapre, on his birth anniversary, June 19. Remembering Sapre Ji, Chief Minister Mr Baghel acknowledged the flourishing state of journalism in Chhattisgarh, attributing it to the foundation of journalism laid by Sapre Ji.
He highlighted Sapre Ji’s invaluable contribution to fostering national and literary consciousness in the region. During the freedom struggle, Sapre ji’s writings served as a ‘guiding light’ for many Satyagrahis. Sapre Ji’s creative and profound writings have charted a new chapter of journalism in Chhattisgarh, leaving an indelible mark.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel expressed admiration for Sapre Ji’s lifelong dedication to serving the country and literature. Sapre Ji’s numerous articles and works were widely published, and he played a pivotal role in establishing institutions that encouraged people to serve the nation and its citizens. Despite limited facilities and technology in 1900, Sapre ji, along with Wamanrao Lakhe ji and Ramrao Chincholkar ji, pioneered the editing and publication of the monthly Hindi newspaper ‘Chhattisgarh Mitra’ in Pendra. Notably, Sapre ji’s story ‘Tokri Bhar Mitti’ holds a distinct value in Indian literature. The Chief Minister emphasised that Sapre Ji’s personality and achievements serve as a source of inspiration for the people, including writers and journalists.
