Cafes operating under the Millets Mission are setting new records of success


 
Koriya Millets Café earned a net profit of Rs. 2 lakh within a month
 
18 people, including 12 women, secured employment
 
People are relishing the tasty dishes prepared from millet, products manufactured in RIPA centers are also available in the cafe


 
Raipur, 12 June 2023 .In accordance with the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Millet Mission was started with the aim of promoting traditional crops in Chhattisgarh and decreasing the rate of malnutrition in the state. The United Nations has decided to celebrate 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’. Moreover, the Chhattisgarh Government has endeavored to set up millet cafes in all districts of the state to make millet dishes accessible to everyone.


 
Under the Mission Millets Scheme, Millets Café was launched in the Koriya district on May 10. Within a month of its operation, the Koriya Millets Café has set a new record of success. It has provided employment to 18 people, including 12 women. With their collective efforts, the café has earned a net profit of Rs. 2 lakh within a month.
One can enjoy the taste of delicacies like Dosa, Cheela, Idli, Kheer, Gulabjamun, and cookies prepared from Jowar, Bajra, Ragi, Jhangora, Bairi, Kangni, Kutki, Kodo, Chena (Cheena), Sama, and barley in the Koriya Millets Café. The café has emerged as a popular attraction for people right from the first day of its launch.


 
The café provides facilities to consumers like excellent seating arrangements, superior service, and a selfie point, along with delicious food. A music night program is organized every Saturday to entertain people visiting the café.

The Roshni Women’s Self-Help Group runs the Millet Cafe in Koriya. The group has opened new avenues for the future by earning a net income of Rs. 2 lakh in the last month. Additionally, the café has provided an opportunity for farmers producing millets to sell their products. It has also transformed the lives of the people working in the café by empowering them economically.
