met Union Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi

Chhattisgarh School Education, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam today met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Mr. Nitin M. Gadkari at his residence in New Delhi. Minister Dr. Tekam has requested Union Minister Mr. Gadkari to give National Highway status to Ambikapur-Banaras highway.

During the meeting with Union Minister Mr. Nitin M. Gadkari, Minister Dr. Tekam submitted the survey report, which mentions that the Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh)-Dhanwar-Banaras (Uttar Pradesh) route under Chhattisgarh is 110.60 km long
. This route connects Surguja, Surajpur and Balrampur districts of Chhattisgarh with Uttar Pradesh. He informed through the letter that this route is of great importance because it directly connects Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. This route is the busiest route from a commercial point of view.  Vegetables, minerals, mineral produce and various goods are transported from Chhattisgarh to Uttar Pradesh through this route in a large quantity. There are many small and big bridges, culverts, ghats, dangerous turns etc. in this route and the traffic pressure is also high. Therefore, it is very important to make Ambikapur-Dhanwar-Banaras a national highway in order to facilitate the traffic on this route.

It is also worth mentioning here that Banaras holds great religious and spiritual significance for people of the country. With the development of the Ambikapur-Dhanwar-Banaras road as a national highway, the surrounding areas of states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar will be benefitted. The present traffic survey of this route from 20th June 2022 to 26th June 2022 shows movement of 2394 cars, jeeps, vans and three wheelers, 198 scooters, motor cycles, 345 buses and minibuses, 1767 trucks, 6548 tractors including trolleys, 196 cycles and 1904 Horse cart-bullock cart, indicating the need for measures to regulate the traffic pressure. Chhattisgarh as well as other neighboring states will be benefited by making this route a national highway.
