Gariyaband, 26 May 2023 . The Chhattisgarh government is implementing the Narva Garwa Ghurwa and Badi Yojana under the ‘Suraji Gaon Yojana’ to strengthen the rural economy and provide more income opportunities in villages. The government is conducting livelihood-oriented activities in the Gauthans under the scheme.
The Jai Maa Khallari Women’s Self-Help Group in Bhendri village under Fingeshwar Development Block of Gariyaband district is utilizing grasslands by cultivating vegetables on them. The women of the group are strengthening their economic status by executing Badi’s work. They are also emerging as a source of information for other women. The women in the group are cultivating different types of vegetables. The Agriculture and Horticulture departments have also provided them with seeds for the quality production of vegetables. The cultivation of vegetables has earned them a profit of more than Rs. 95 thousand. A member of the group says that she is working on various activities undertaken by Gauthans. Currently, there are 11 members in this group. The women say that they are earning extra income through these livelihood-oriented activities, because of which they can fulfill the needs of their families. The women are selling the vegetables in stalls established near the grassland. With their hard work, they are taking steps on the path to self-employment, while improving their family’s economic condition.
It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh government’s ambitious Narva Garwa Ghurwa Badi Yojana and the Godhan NYAY Yojana have proven to be quite beneficial for people. These schemes have emerged as a medium of economic development for people living in rural environments. In accordance with the efforts of the government, livelihood-oriented activities are being undertaken in Gauthans so that villagers are provided with new employment opportunities and extra sources of income.
