Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Baghel visits Hanchalpur Gauthan, impressed by women’s contribution to rural livelihoods

Inspects cow dung paint, organic manure, and earthworm production; praises women’s efforts

Meets Women’s Self-Help Groups, encourages them for financial independence

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel is on a visit to Kurud Assembly Constituency falling under the Dhamtari district as a part of his statewide “Bhent Mulaqat Abhiyan”. The visit began with an inspection of the Hanchalpur Gauthan.

A shed worth Rs 71.91 lakhs has been constructed here as a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park scheme to promote livelihoods. Women’s self-help groups are running various income-generating activities in the Gauthan.

The Gauthan also has a unit for cow dung paint production. The Chanchal Women’s Self-Help Group is operating the unit and producing natural cow dung paint. To date, they have produced 1200 liters of natural cow dung paint, of which 300 liters have been sold, generating a revenue of Rs 67,500 for the group.

In addition, the women’s group has purchased 730.68 quintals of cow dung for organic manure production. This has resulted in a revenue of Rs 2.72 lakh for the group.

The Mahamaya Kisan Abhiruchi Women’s Self-Help Group has generated a yield of 35.24 quintals of earthworms during earthworm production at the Hanchalpur Gauthan. This has resulted in a profit of Rs 5,51,000 from the sale of 21 quintals of earthworms by the group.

In addition to these activities, mushroom cultivation, goat farming, poultry farming, sale of eggs, and fish farming are also being carried out here, which is making women financially stronger.

Chief Minister Shri Baghel impressed by women SHG’s work in Hanchalpur Gauthan

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, inspected the production process of cow dung paint in Hanchalpur Gauthan, paying close attention to its details.

The women members of the group presented a rose flower to the Chief Minister, which he held in his hand while inspecting the Gauthan.

Impressed by the work of the women members, Shri Baghel praised their efforts and emphasized that the empowerment of women in the state will make the state stronger.
