Saur Sujala Yojana became a source of income for farmer Ramkumar Kashyap

North Bastar Kanker 21 April . With the aid of solar pumps obtained by the Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) department, irrigation has become simpler in the district. A solar pump is being installed in the fields of hundreds of farmers in the area to irrigate them. The farmers’ financial situation has been better since solar pumps were installed in these distant forest areas. The Saur Sujala Yojana has been effective in giving farmers greater autonomy. Farmers can now cultivate maize, vegetables, and other crops due to the installation of solar pumps, which has doubled both the district’s irrigated fields and their source of income. Under this scheme, the state government aims to strengthen agriculture and rural areas in Chhattisgarh by providing irrigation pumps to farmers at a subsidized rate.

Farmer Ramkumar Kashyap of Mussurputta village in Narharpur development block similarly uses the Saur Sujala Yojana to irrigate his farms. He stated that his farm was in a hilly area, making it impossible to reach the power line. In the absence of irrigation, he relied on traditional rain-fed farming.

When he heard about the Saur Sujala Yojana, he installed a three-horsepower solar pump on his land, using which he irrigated his fields and produced paddy, maize, pulses, oilseeds, and other vegetables such as tomato, bitter gourd, and bottle gourd. As a result of this, they make a nice living from it. It is worth noting that the Saur Sujala Yojana provides farmers with three-horsepower solar pumps for Rs. 10,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 20,000, respectively. The remainder is borne by the government in the form of a government grant. The Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) manages the scheme.
