Chhattisgarh journalists welcome approval of draft of Chhattisgarh Protection of Mediapersons Bill 2023

Raipur 18 March . The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, has approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Protection of Mediapersons Bill 2023, which aims to protect journalists in the state.

The President of the Raipur Press Club, Shri Damu Ambedkar, expressed gratitude on behalf of journalists across the state for the Chief Minister’s efforts to enact this security law, which will help media persons carry out their duties with greater enthusiasm in the interest of the public.

He said that Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has formed a committee to make a law for the protection of journalists. The draft of the relevant Bill has been prepared and now its approval with priority has been given in the cabinet meeting, fulfilling the long standing demand of media persons in Chhattisgarh.

He added that Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel is extremely sensitive to every demand of journalist welfare. He has also shown his commitment to journalist welfare by expanding the scope of preferential treatment and simplifying rules. He has also increased the Journalist Honor Fund from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. Along with this, a provision of Rs 50 lakhs has been made in the budget for the start of the Journalist Housing Construction Subsidy Scheme (Patrakar Griha Nirman Anudan Yojana).
