Raipur: Chhattisgarh is emerging as a big exporting hub due to numerous government facilities for exporters

Export Outreach program organized at Nava Raipur with the motive to increase the possibilities of exports from the state


Raipur 13 March . An Export outreach program was organized at Nava Raipur today by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Government of India to increase the possibilities of exports from the state. Exporters and investors who participated in the Export Outreach program extensively discussed the action plan to be made to increase exports from Chhattisgarh.. Significant information was also given about exportable products from Chhattisgarh and government facilities given to exporters. Exporters and investors also shared their problems and gave suggestions to increase exports from the state. Representatives of Treec, Sfaxil, Industries Department, Minor Forest Produce Federation, APEDA, SIDBI as well as Bank of Baroda participated in the programme. Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure also participated in the program. This programs was conducted by the Directorate of Foreign Trade, Government of India with the objective of developing numerous districts as export hubs.. It is noteworthy that 75 districts of the country with potential to increase exports have been identified and Raipur and Durg districts have been selected for this from Chhattisgarh.

The collector, Sarveshwar Bhure said that Chhattisgarh is the main exporter of many products including rice. The state government has provided numerous facilities to the exporters to encourage exports from the state, special provisions have also been made for exporters in the industrial policy ranging from exemption of five percent in ‘mandi’ fee along with formation of promotion committee. The Collector further said that Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards developing as an export hub due to the industry friendly policies of the state government. He said that due to the policies and facilities of the government, there has been an average increase of more than 22 percent in the exports of the state in the last five years. The Collector also informed that special efforts are being made to promote the export of rice, construction machinery and materials and processed spices from Chhattisgarh. He also emphasized on the possibilities of the export of wire, rods, bars, coils, TMT bars, crude steel as well as forest produce like tamarind, mahua, lac and small grain millets like Kodo Kutki Ragi etc.

Exporters and investors present in the program described Chhattisgarh as a state of immense potential from the point of view of exports. The exporters demanded to continue the exemption of 5 per cent in mandi fee issued to increase the export of rice. Presently, Chhattisgarh government is giving 5 percent exemption of market fee to rice exporters for one year.. The exporting groups also demanded concession for transportation to the exporting units saying that Chhattisgarh is a landlocked state. Some exporter groups demanded government assistance for the modernization of processing plants.
