“Angana ma Shiksha” program receives SKOCH Award for the year 2022

Chief Minister and School Education Minister congratulated officials and teachers associated with the program

Raipur 13 March . Chhattisgarh School Education Department has bagged once again the national level award for its excellent work in the field of education. In a tough competition, the state has received the Skoch Award 2022 for the ‘Angana ma Shiksha’ program run by Samagra Shiksha. This entire program is being conducted by a group of women teachers from Chhattisgarh. This year will be the third year of this program and every year some new designs are included by women leadership. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam have congratulated officials and teachers of the department for this achievement.

The Skoch Award is the country’s highest civilian award conferred by an independent organization, which recognizes people, projects, and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation. This award was instituted in the year 2003. This award is given for the best efforts in the field of digital, financial, and social inclusion.

At the time of the COVID pandemic, the entire staff of the School Education Department tried so hard to continue the education of the children without gaps. During this period, various new ways also evolved which helped in continuing the education of the children. At the same time, some women teachers of the state proposed their contribution to this statewide program “Padhai Tunhar Duar”. They trained the mothers and started the effort to teach the children while staying at home through them under the “Angana Ma Shiksha” program.

The ‘Angana Ma Shiksha’ program helped in awakening the interest of the mothers toward the education of their children. Mothers and children should be taught by organizing fairs in every village, inviting mothers and children to the fair, and teaching them using materials available at home like utensils, vegetables, fruits, clothes, etc.

Mothers doing better work at the village level were honored by being selected as ‘smart mother’. Along with keeping other mothers involved in this program and helping them in learning, ‘Smart Mata’ also does the work of visiting kindergartens and primary schools from time to time, helping with children’s education, and getting information about their children’s learning from teachers. Through this program, there has been a success in developing the culture of teaching children at home by mothers.

For the assessment of children, a ‘support card’ was designed and signed by the mothers instead of report cards, and it was ensured that the mothers gave it to their children’s teachers. Efforts were made to show the status of the children in different competencies to the mothers in very easy ways using simple symbols. Monitoring of the entire program was executed by groups of teachers through core groups at the cluster, block, district, and state levels.
