Raipur, 24 February . At the initiative of Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, a facility to provide poor families living in slum communities with free medical treatment has been provided. Under the Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana, so far, a total of 41 lakh 57 thousand 878 people have been treated by medical teams in mobile medical units that reach the vicinity of slum communities.
Under the scheme, 120 mobile medical units, equipped with doctors, paramedical teams, medical instruments, and medicines, are providing healthcare facilities to slum communities in the entire state’s urban regions. Through this scheme, so far, about 9 lakh 75 thousand 255 patients have undergone pathology tests. More than 35 lakh 25 thousand 895 patients have been given free-of-cost medicines. Amongst the benefited patients, more than about 2,68,475 people have benefited from free medical treatment and checkups.
Under the Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana operated by the Urban Administration and Development Department, so far people living in 169 urban regions have been treated through free medical checkups, treatment, and medication. Urban Administration and Development Minister, Mr. Shivkumar Dahariya, has given instructions to departmental officers that free medication after thorough checkups should be provided to people living in the slum communities of urban areas and other needy people.
It is noteworthy that the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana started on 01 November 2020 to provide health facilities to people living in 14 municipality regions in the first phase, starting from 01 November 2020. Under this scheme, 60 mobile medical units had been launched to treat people. On 31 March 2022, these mobile medical units extended to the entire state, and 60 more mobile medical units were launched.
