“Products made from cow dung have reached the general public”: Shri Bhupesh Baghel

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel on Monday virtually released an amount of Rs 8.63 crore to cattle rearers, women’s groups associated with Gauthans and Gauthan committees under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, at the programme organized at his residence office here. Beneficiaries of this scheme have so far received payments of Rs 412.19 crore. Since the inception of this scheme, a total of 105.63 lakh quintals of cow dung have been purchased. In addition, after payment of Rs 4.76 crore to cow dung sellers today, a sum of Rs 211.25 crore has been paid to them in the lieu of cow dung purchase.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated and extended his best wishes to the cattle rearers, women’s groups, and Gauthan committees. He said that there is a 59 per cent increase in the number of livestock farmers benefiting from the Godhan Nyaya Yojana and an 85 per cent increase in cow dung purchases. He said that yesterday, we unveiled a statue of Shivaji, which was painted with natural paint made from cow dung, which is a good thing that this paint is also being used by the public.

He added that out of the total amount being transferred today, Rs 4.76 crore was paid for the purchase of cow dung. Of this, an amount of Rs 2.06 crore has been paid by the department and an amount of Rs 2.70 crore has been paid by the self-supporting Gauthans. He said that a total of 10,732 Gauthans have been sanctioned in the state, out of which 9, 720 have been constructed and are functional now. This means that the construction of 91 per cent of the approved Gauthans has been completed. Construction of the remaining 7 per cent of Gauthans is going on at a rapid pace.

The Chief Minister said that the Godhan Nyay Yojana is progressing successfully and is benefiting many people. A total of 45 units have been approved in 21 districts for manufacturing natural paint from cow dung, of which 13 units have already started. The construction of the remaining 32 units is underway at a fast pace. So far, 30,218 liters of paint have been produced, of which 14,358 liters have been sold, resulting in a revenue of Rs 29.16 lakh.

He added that the purchase of ‘Gomutra’ is being done in 99 Gauthans. So far, 1,33,484 liters of cow urine have been purchased worth Rs 5,37,936. An income of Rs. 28,96,845 has been generated from the production and sale of Brahmastra insecticide and Jeevamrut growth promoter made from ‘Gomutra’.

It is worth mentioning that under the “Godhan Nyay Yojana”, self-supporting Gauthans have started participating equally in the procurement of cow dung. In the past few fortnights, the share of self-reliant Gauthans in the payment made for cow dung purchase has increased to 60 to 70 per cent. Currently, more than 50 per cent of Gauthans have become self-reliant and are managing their expenses, along with the purchase of cow dung and ‘Gomutra’, from their own funds.

On this occasion, Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, Food Minister Shri Amarjeet Bhagat, Chief Minister’s Chief Advisor Shri Pradeep Sharma, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamal Preet Singh, Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. S. Bharatidasan, Secretary Dr. Ayaj Tamboli, and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
