Shree Dhanwantari Generic Medical Store is helping the poor and needy, Buying medicines at low prices has saved more than 81.97 crore rupees

Through the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, residents of Chhattisgarh have received substantial relief.

Raipur, 03 February . Accessible health services are reaching the poor people of Chhattisgarh thanks to the significant initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. Mr. Baghel’s top priority has been the expansion of health-care facilities. Under the Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Store Scheme, generic medicine shops are being operated in all of the state’s urban bodies. Generic medicines from well-known companies in the country are available at 50 to 70% less cost in these stores. Medicines for colds, coughs, fever, blood pressure, insulin, as well as serious diseases, antibiotics, and surgical items, are also available at subsidised prices in Dhanwantri medicine shops to the needy.

On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Urban Administration and Development Department launched the Shri Dhanwantri Generic Medical Store Yojana on October 20, 2021. Under the scheme, 194 Shree Dhanwantri Medical Stores have been established across the state’s 169 urban bodies. Government doctors have been compulsed to prescribe generic medications to patients who come to the hospital for treatment. So far, the scheme has generated 135.33 crore M.R.P. On the sale of medicines, while a rebate of Rs 81 crore 97 lakh has been given to needy people. It is worth noting that over 44 lakh 48 thousand citizens have purchased low-cost medicines from Dhanwantari generic medical shops located throughout the state. People have received a great deal of relief as a result of this, and savings are being made as a result of the availability of medicines at low prices. Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahariya continues to monitor the availability and operation of medicines in Shri Dhanwantri generic medical stores.  He has directed the departmental officers to continuously make all necessary arrangements to make available high-quality generic medicines at subsidised rates for health facilities to the citizens.

Meanwhile, Shubham Mishra, who came to buy medicines at Mahasamund’s Dhanwantari Medical Store, said that medicines costing Rs.400-450 are available here for rs.160-170 on other medicals.  Now he and his family, friends, and neighbours also buy medicines for several diseases from here.  Some medicines are not available but most medicines are available at low cost.  Prior to this, Mohammad reached out to buy medicines for his mother, he also stated that, Dhanwantari Medical was a life-giver for the poor.  So Savitri Sahu, who is suffering from a cold fever of Bagbahra, said that very expensive medicines are given at other medical centres, but here the same medicine is available at a low cost.  This is also saving money.  According to the store owners, many people came this year to get medicines for seasonal diseases. Medicines that are not readily available are noted and made available later.

Meanwhile, Sapan Kumar Saha, who came to buy medicines at Chirmiri Municipal Corporation Chirmiri store, says I come here to buy medicines for my parents, earlier I had to spend 9 to 10 thousand on medicines, here I get only 4-5 effective medicines of the same formula. While on the other hand, Kalavati of Godripara stated that I used to get medicines for BP, sugar, and thyroid up to Rs.500 per week, but here I have got medicines for Rs.250, due to which I am saving a lot.

Urban Administration Department officials stated there are 19 shree Dhanwantari generic medical store in Raipur district, four in Gariaband, seven in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, seven in Dhamtari, six in Mahasamund, 18 in Durg, eight in Balod, eight in Bemetara, five in Rajnandgaon, while  three in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai  one in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki , six in Kabirdham, 10 in Bilaspur and two in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. Similarly, four in Mungeli, six in Korba, nine in Janjgir-Champa, six in Sakti, eight in Raigarh, five in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, five in Jashpur, four in Surguja, five in Balrampur, six in Surajpur, two in Korea, Five in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, three in Bastar, three in Kondagaon, one in Narayanpur, six in Kanker, five in Dantewada, three in Sukma and two Dhanwantari generic medical stores are being operated in Bijapur district.  It has been made mandatory for government doctors to prescribe generic medicines to patients coming for treatment in the hospital.
