Construction of roads commences in the last village of the northern end of Chhattisgarh after 75 years of Independence….

Till date, even the election team had to reach here via helicopter

Construction of this road will facilitate the effective implementation of Government schemes

Raipur, 15 January . Pudaang village is situated is situated 140 kms away from Balrampur district and has population of 2200. This village remained deprived of the road connectivity even after 75 years of Independence. But now, on instructions of Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel, construction of roads has been started in this village. It is like a dream come true for the people of this village.

Amavas of Pahadi Korwa tribe from Pudang village told that he is 40 years  old but he has still not visited Balrampur district headquarters. On being asked about the reason, he said that there was no road to Balrampur, and people of his village had to travel via Jharkhand to visit places in Chhattisgarh. People here had to face major inconvenience in case of a medical emergency, due to the poor road connectivity of the village. He said that construction of this road would greatly benefit the children of the village as this road would open new avenues of higher education for them.

The Major Challenge of Naxalism and Remote Geographical Location

Pudang village is surrounded by forests and valleys, and this remote geographical location makes it extremely difficult and challenging to build a road here. Besides this place is a major naxal-affected area. Adjacent to Pudang village is Budhapahad area bordering Jharkhand which is considered to be the hotbed of Naxalism. Since the formation of the state, 435 incidents of naxal violence have taken place in this region, but in past four years, only four incidents have occurred, that too without any casualty. Police has chased out almost all the naxalites from this area.

Four camps opened to deal with Naxalites – Naxalite activities in this area had adversely affected the pace of development works in here. But in the last 4 years, 4 camps have been established in 24 kms, at Sabag, Bandarchua, Bhutahi and Pudang. The state government has provided the support and assistance in opening these camps. Many borewells have been dug here to provide drinking water to the jawans. Opening of these camps has resulted in significant decrease in the number of Naxalite incidents, almost to zero, while the development works here have picked up the pace.

All kinds of facilities to connect the villagers with development- Balrampur Collector Vijay Dayaram K informed that to provide proper education, health and other facilities in this village, it was most important that the road was built here first. Despite the difficult circumstances, the district administration has made about 6 km road from Bandarchua to Bhutahi and the construction of road from Bhutahi to Pudang is in progress. Moreover, mobile towers and transformers have been installed in Bhutahi, because of which villagers are now using 4G service. Soon a sub health center will also be opened in Pudang village this month. The school building is being renovated.

Ration shop, electricity pole and paddy procurement center to be established in Pudang- as there was no road here, people of this remote far-flung village had to go all the way to Bhutahi to get ration. But after the construction of the road, the district administration will start delivering ration to this village. Presently, farmers of this place have to go to Samari paddy procurement center to sell paddy, but now the proposal to open paddy procurement center here has been sent. Till date, Pudang village only had solar lights. But as soon as the road is built, the work of installing electric poles will be commenced.

Gauthan for strong rural economy – Most of the people in Pudang village are farmers and cattle herders. The district administration has started the work of construction of Gothan here. Villagers believe that the establishment of gauthan would give a boost to the economic activities in the village. Cow dung and Gaumutra procurement would further improve the financial condition of the villagers.
