The Chief Minister paid his obeisance to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on the latter’s death anniversary

Raipur, 28 November . The Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today in his residential office paid his obeisance and dedicated flowers to the picture of the great social reformer, thinker, writer, and philosopher Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on the occasion of his death anniversary. The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Phule wanted to liberate society from superstitions and malpractice.

He was a strong opponent of the caste system prevalent in Indian society and the discrimination based on it. He worked actively for the empowerment of women and Dalits. Mahatma Phule established the Satyashodhak Samaj to end the discrimination against Dalits and to help them gain their rightful place in society.


Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that Mahatma Phule emphasized the need for education to free society from social malpractices. He also encouraged women’s education and educated his wife Mrs. Savitribai Phule, who became the first female teacher in India. He said that the values and sense of service of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule will always inspire us to serve the destitute and establish equilibrium in society.
