Shri Baghel kick-starts women’s Kabaddi game, exhorts players to do their best
CM tried his hands on traditional games to encourage players
Raipur, 06 October . Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday inaugurated the grand multi-sport event ‘Chhattisgarhiya Olympics’ at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium here.
Chhattisgarh is known for its rich and unique culture and tradition. However, as modern civilization grows, people are gradually forgetting their old culture and traditions. Soon after taking charge as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Bhupesh Baghel started working on an action plan to promote the state’s glorious culture and tradition. In keeping with the spirit, Shri Baghel has undertaken a special initiative to revive one of the most delightful parts of our age-old tradition–traditional games–in a grand way by organizing the ‘Chhattisgarhiya Olympics’.
On the inaugural occasion, Chief Minister Shri Baghel himself reached among the players and kick-started the game of Women’s Kabaddi by blowing the whistle. He also tried his hands on games like ‘langdi’, ‘bhaura’, ‘Bati’ (kancha), and ‘Pitthul’ to encourage the players.
It is worth mentioning here that the ‘Chhattisgarhiya Olympics’ has been started today on the special initiative of the Chief Minister to promote local sports to keep people connected with the culture of Chhattisgarh. The event will be run till January 6 next year. As many as 14 types of traditional sports have been included in the team and individual categories. Besides, there are three age group categories viz. below 18 years, 18 to 40 years, and above 40 years. Through this grand event, the locals will get a chance to showcase their sporting talent.
