District Judge Inspects Korba Jail, Reviews Facilities for Inmates

Korba, March 25: Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Santosh Sharma, conducted an inspection of the District Jail, Korba, on Wednesday.

During the visit, Judge Sharma interacted directly with the inmates, enquired about the status of their cases, and listened to their grievances with due attention.

A detailed review of the basic facilities available in the jail was carried out. The inspection covered food arrangements, medical check-ups, cleanliness of the kitchen, residential barracks, drinking water facilities, bathrooms, and sanitation conditions.

The Judge also examined the pipeline-based drinking water supply system within the premises and reviewed the shed constructed outside the jail for the convenience of inmates’ visiting family members.

Facilities being operated through video conferencing were inspected, along with the Jail Legal Aid Clinic. Inmates were informed about various schemes run by the District Legal Services Authority. It was emphasised that free legal aid is being provided to those inmates who do not have access to legal representation, ensuring that no individual is deprived of justice.

Among those present during the inspection were Chief Judicial Magistrate Kumari Mayura Gupta, DLSA Secretary Kumari Dimpal, Additional Collector Devendra Patel, Additional Superintendent of Police Nitish Singh Thakur, Joint Collector Mrs Madhuri Som Thakur, Public Works Department officer Vijay Lakshmi, DDA D.P.N. Kanwar, Tehsildar Bajrang Sahu, and Civil Lines Police Station In-charge Naveen Patel, along with other officials.
