Raigarh, Feb. 20. The Intra-Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) – WR-II (Badminton) 2026 concluded on an energetic and celebratory note with remarkable performances from all participating stations of Western Region–II.
In the keenly contested team event, Western Region-II Headquarters (Nava Raipur) emerged as the overall champion. Lara station delivered an impressive performance to secure the Runner-up position, while Khargone and Sipat shared the honours as Joint 2nd Runners-up.
The individual events witnessed thrilling matches and outstanding sportsmanship. In the Men’s Singles category, Shri Swayam from Lara clinched the title after defeating Shri Sailendra of Khargone in an exciting final. Continuing Lara’s dominance, Ms. Shila Karma of Lara won the Women’s Singles championship by overcoming Ms. Princi Verma of Sipat.
Adding another feather to Lara’s cap, the Mixed Doubles title was secured by the Lara duo of Shri Swayam and Ms. Deepali, who triumphed over Shri Dheeraj and Ms. Ranu from WR-II Headquarters in a closely fought contest.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri K.C.S. Roy, GM (O&M), and Shri Hemant Pawgi, GM (Project), who presented the winner’s trophy and felicitated the champions. The ceremony was conducted in the esteemed presence of Smt. Rekha Thakur, President (PMS), Smt. Rupasingha Roy, Vice-President (PMS), Smt. Sandhya Mishra, Vice-President (PMS), Smt. Tripti Pawgi, Vice-President (PMS), along with other senior officials.
The tournament not only showcased competitive excellence but also strengthened the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork among the WR-II stations, making IRSM–WR-II (Badminton) 2026 a grand success.
