CM Chairs the Review Meeting of Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department

Raipur, February 03, 2026:

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed officials to ensure that young people become self-reliant by providing them with extensive skill-upgradation training. He stated that several new industries are set to be established in Chhattisgarh in the coming years, creating significant employment opportunities for the state’s youth. The Chief Minister was reviewing the functioning of the Skill Development, Technical Education, Employment and Training Department at Mahanadi Bhawan on February 3. He also instructed officials to organise employment fairs at regular intervals across various districts of the state.

During the review, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on making the state’s youth employment-oriented and on modernising technical institutions. He stated that modernising Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) would ensure training aligned with industry requirements, thereby expanding employment opportunities in the state. The Chief Minister approved the proposal to integrate the CSSDA with the State Project Livelihood College Society and directed officials to initiate the process without delay. He also instructed that the rational deployment of Assistant Directors and Assistant Project Officers be ensured in districts. Directions were given for the effective implementation of the Aadhaar-Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) at training centres and for further strengthening the feedback module to obtain inputs from trained youth.

Officials informed in the meeting that under the Mukhyamantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, more than 4.90 lakh youth have been trained since 2013, out of which over 2.71 lakh have been provided employment. At present, 356 training provider institutions (VTPs) and 207 registered courses are operational across the state. Under the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Setu Yojana, six clusters in Chhattisgarh have been selected under the hub-and-spoke model, with a proposed investment of approximately Rs. 60,000 crore for the upgradation and modernisation of ITIs. In this, the Centre’s share is about 50 per cent, the State Government’s share is 33 per cent, and the industry’s contribution is at least 17 per cent.

It was further informed that under the PM JANMAN Yojana for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, around 1,700 youth are being provided skill training in nine districts. In addition, more than 600 youth have been linked with skill training programmes for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites in districts including Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma and Bastar. Enrolment in engineering courses during the 2025–26 academic session has increased by 31 per cent compared to last year, while enrolment in diploma courses has increased by 36 per cent.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Skill Development, Technical Education, Employment and Training Guru Khushwant Saheb, Chief Secretary Shri Vikasheel, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat, departmental secretary Dr S. Bharathidasan, Industries Secretary Shri Rajat Kumar, Labour Secretary Shri Himshikhar Gupta, Director of Technical Education, Employment and Training Shri Vijay Dayaram K., Vice-Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Technical University Professor Arun Arora, and other officials.
