Korba: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with dignity and patriotic enthusiasm at MGM Higher Secondary School, Balco. The programme was marked by a series of ceremonial and cultural activities highlighting the spirit of nationalism and constitutional values.
School Principal Father Sunny John hoisted the national flag and paid floral tributes to the portraits of martyrs, remembering their supreme sacrifice for the nation. Addressing students, parents and staff on the occasion, he said that service to the nation is the greatest form of happiness and society must continuously strive to uphold this ideal.
Emphasising the importance of Republic Day, Father John urged everyone to work collectively to guide the younger generation from darkness towards enlightenment. He appealed to families, students and the larger community to contribute towards creating an atmosphere of social harmony and unity in society and the nation.
Extending Republic Day greetings to the students, the Principal said that the occasion inspires citizens to preserve the unity and integrity of the country while fulfilling their constitutional duties. He remarked that Republic Day symbolises India’s rich democratic traditions and constitutional heritage, adding that the present time calls not for dying for the nation, but for living responsibly and contributing to nation-building beyond barriers of caste, religion and region.
Students presented an impressive parade accompanied by flute melodies and band performances, saluting the national flag. The parade was led by Head Boy D. Bala Krishnan and Head Girl Ayushi Majerwar, along with students Saurabh Rajat, Niyati, Roshan Vishwakarma and Arpita Sanda. A series of colourful cultural programmes further infused the school campus with patriotic fervour.
On the occasion, meritorious students of Classes X and XII were felicitated for their academic achievements. From Class X, Arpita Sanda, Raunak Devangan, Ruchi Shrivas and Chhaya Bareth were honoured, while from Class XII, Rudrani Kanwar, Falak Khan, Divyanshu Kumbhakar, Kritika Vaishnav, Mahi Shrote and Rambha Shukla received mementoes. Special recognition was accorded to Arpita Sanda (Class X) and Rudrani Kanwar and Kritika Vaishnav (Class XII) with the Martheodosius Memorial Award.
The programme concluded with distribution of sweets. Students, teachers, parents and staff members were present in large numbers. The event was successfully organised with the collective efforts of the entire teaching staff.
