Young Kathak Dancer from Korba Wins First Prize at Bharat Sanskriti Utsab 2025

Korba: Parvatham Yodha, a young and promising Kathak dancer from Balco, Korba (Chhattisgarh), has brought pride to the region by winning the first prize in the Kathak (Balkrishna Solo) category at the prestigious Bharat Sanskriti Utsab 2025.

The Bharat Sanskriti Utsab is an international festival and global competition of Indian art and culture, organised by the Hindusthan Art & Music Society. The event was held from December 26 to 31, 2025, at Calcutta Blind School Ground and Sarat Sadan, Behala, Kolkata, and witnessed participation from artists across India and abroad.

Parvatham Yodha impressed the judges with her expressive abhinaya, rhythmic precision and strong technical command, earning her a Winner’s Trophy, Medal, Certificate of Merit and Certificate of Participation.

A student of Class IV at Delhi Public School, Balco, Parvatham is undergoing training in Kathak under internationally renowned Kathak and Tabla Guru Pt. Mordhwaj Vaishnav. She is the daughter of Parvatham Sathish Kumar, an employee of Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO).

The organisers lauded her performance and congratulated the young dancer on her remarkable achievement. The success has brought immense pride to her family and stands as an inspiration for young aspirants pursuing Indian classical arts.
