South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has achieved a significant milestone in the field of responsible and sustainable mining, with <strong>five of its mines receiving the prestigious 5-Star Rating<\/strong> under the <strong>Ministry of Coal&#8217;s Star Rating Assessment for the financial year 2024-25<\/strong>. The honoured mines are <strong>Bangwar Underground Mine (Sohagpur Area), Khairaha Underground Mine (Sohagpur Area), Beherabandh Underground Mine (Johilla Area), Vijay West Underground Mine (Hasdeo Area), and Jagannathpur Opencast Project (Bhatgaon Area)<\/strong>. This is one of the most significant achievements in SECL&#8217;s history, marking the highest number of its mines to receive the coveted 5-Star Rating in a single assessment year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Coal&#8217;s Star Rating system is a comprehensive framework for evaluating the overall performance of coal and lignite mines across the country. Mines are assessed on parameters such as scientific and safe mining practices, environmental management, land reclamation, adoption of modern technologies, occupational safety and welfare, statutory compliance, social responsibility, and operational efficiency. Only mines demonstrating outstanding performance across these parameters are awarded the highest <strong>5-Star Rating<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The four underground mines\u2014<strong>Bangwar, Khairaha, Beherabandh and Vijay West<\/strong>\u2014have been recognised for their exemplary performance in safe mining operations, scientific mining practices, production efficiency, employee welfare and environmental management. <strong>Jagannathpur Opencast Project<\/strong>, the only SECL opencast mine to receive the 5-Star Rating this year, has distinguished itself through outstanding performance in overburden management, green initiatives, water conservation and safe mining practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on this ocassion, <strong>Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SECL<\/strong>, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;The recognition of five SECL mines with the prestigious 5-Star Rating is a matter of immense pride for the entire SECL family.
