The memorandum was presented to the Ambassadors of India in France and Italy. It described the remarks as baseless, misleading, and deeply offensive to the religious sentiments of millions of Jain followers, while demanding strict action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pandit Sudhir Sharma, Head of Dadda Ji International Culture Centre, said that Jainism is a religion that has given the world the timeless message of non-violence, compassion, and kindness towards all living beings. He stated that accusing Jain monks of killing peacocks for their feathers is highly unfortunate and condemnable. He clarified that the peacock feathers used in the Pichhi carried by Jain monks are naturally shed feathers collected without causing any harm to the birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further explained that Lord Krishna is traditionally depicted wearing a peacock feather in His crown. He also noted that, in the ancient folk traditions of Bundelkhand, villagers collect naturally fallen peacock feathers throughout the year and use them in traditional dances during the Diwali festival. This practice does not involve harming peacocks in any way and symbolizes India&#8217;s respect for nature and its cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"722\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/vedantsamachar.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2425821-722x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24699\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vedantsamachar.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2425821-722x1024.jpg 722w, https:\/\/vedantsamachar.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2425821-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/vedantsamachar.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2425821-768x1089.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vedantsamachar.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2425821.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pandit Sharma said that Mrs. Maneka Gandhi&#8217;s statement has deeply hurt not only the Jain community but also Sanatan followers across the world. He urged her to issue an unconditional public apology to the entire Jain community and immediately withdraw her statement.
