A CBI team has been stationed in Korba for the past three days, conducting detailed inquiries at Gevra House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to preliminary information, the team, led by a DSP-rank officer, is recording statements of officials from the Revenue Department, SECL, and affected villagers. Special focus is being laid on 152 individuals who were earlier declared \u2018ineligible\u2019 and removed from the compensation list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several villagers have claimed that they are genuine land oustees and rightful beneficiaries, but were deliberately excluded due to alleged collusion between officials, middlemen, and land brokers. They alleged that fake compensation cases were fabricated to benefit undeserving individuals while sidelining legitimate claimants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the CBI had registered an FIR against labour leader Shyamu Jaiswal in connection with the case. However, further action remained pending for a considerable period. With renewed activity, the investigation has gained momentum once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The role of a government employee, Manoj Gobhil, and his family has also come under scrutiny. Sources indicate that five fake compensation documents were allegedly prepared in the names of his family members, complete with forged signatures and official seals of verifying authorities. These documents were later cancelled after the irregularities came to light, preventing a potential loss of crores to SECL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CBI officials are reportedly examining all aspects of the case, including the role of officials involved in preparing compensation records, revenue officers, tehsildars, village kotwars, and beneficiaries. Notices are being issued to those who have not yet appeared for questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agency may also carry out spot verification and fresh land measurements as part of the investigation.
