SECL CMD’s Field Review at Kusmunda: Focus on Production, Efficiency & Operational Excellence

Korba, Nov. 17 . Today, Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SECL, visited the Kusmunda Opencast Mine to review the ongoing operations and assess the production readiness of various patches.

CMD Shri Duhan first inspected the Contractual B Patch, Lower Kusmunda Seam, Upper Kusmunda Seam, A Patch (Lower Kusmunda Seam) and Rishdi Patch. During the visit, he interacted with Shri S. T. Patil, General Manager, Kusmunda Area, Shri Atul S. B. Singh, Sub-Area Manager, Kusmunda, and their team. He also held discussions with the contractor’s representative Shri Vikash Choudhary and his team regarding coal production enhancement, existing operational challenges, and the measures required to overcome them.

Afterwards, the CMD visited the departmental 42 Cum shovel patch near Khodri village, where he advised the team to gear up for increased production through effective time management, improved coordination, and optimal utilisation of HEMM.

He then proceeded to the workshop, where he directed the excavation team to ensure strict cleanliness and maintenance of the workshop floor. He also inspected the dumper washing shed and instructed the team to ensure its proper utilisation.

Later, Shri Duhan held a brief meeting with all Heads of Departments (HoDs). He motivated the officers and staff to prepare for the upcoming production challenges, noting that the asking rate is increasing day by day. He emphasised that with focused efforts, improved efficiency, and coordinated teamwork, Kusmunda has the potential to become the best opencast mine in the country.
