Korba,27 July 2025. DAV Mukhyamantri Public School, Kharmora, today vibrantly celebrated “Green Day,” fostering a deep sense of environmental responsibility and critical thinking among its students. The special event encompassed activities for both younger and older students, transforming the school grounds into a hub of learning and engagement.

The day began with enthusiastic participation from students of LKG to Class 2, who arrived in various shades of green attire, beautifully complemented by handmade crowns crafted from fresh green leaves. This delightful visual spectacle set a cheerful tone for the day’s educational activities focused on the environment.
A highlight for the youngest environmentalists was their engagement in hands-on environmental projects. Each child meticulously crafted a project related to the environment, showcasing their creativity and understanding of ecological concepts. Furthermore, the young participants each brought a plant from home, taking turns to speak a few lines about their chosen flora. This activity not only enhanced their public speaking skills but also deepened their connection with nature and understanding of plant life.
Adding another significant dimension to the Green Day celebrations, the school also hosted a spirited debate competition for students from Class 6 to Class 12. The highly relevant subject of the debate was “Social Media: A Boon or a Bane?” Students showcased impressive oratorical skills, critical analysis, and well-researched arguments, engaging in a lively exchange of ideas on the pervasive influence of social media in modern life. The debate provided an excellent platform for older students to develop their communication skills and engage with contemporary issues.
”Green Day at DAV Mukhyatri Public School is more than just a celebration; it’s an initiative to instill core values of environmental stewardship and critical thinking from a very young age through diverse educational activities,” said Mr. Hemanto Mukherjee Principal of the school. “Witnessing our younger students’ excitement in participating and our older students’ intellectual engagement in the debate truly reinforces our belief in nurturing responsible, well-rounded global citizens.”
