In a significant boost for women’s football in Chhattisgarh, NTPC Korba, in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Football Association, proudly concluded its state-wide Women’s Football Championship and coaching camps. The event, held over a month, successfully brought together aspiring female footballers across three categories: Sub Junior, Junior and Senior.
The first phase of the championship focused on the Junior Girls’ category, featuring an exciting tournament at the NTPC Korba Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium. Four district teams—DFA Bastar, DFA Raipur, DFA Bijapur, and DFA Durg—competed in a spirited display of talent and teamwork. Following the tournament, a rigorous selection process identified 30 outstanding players who were invited to participate in a 21-day intensive coaching camp.
The coaching camp, which concluded recently, was designed to hone the skills of these promising athletes and prepare them for the national stage. These players will now have the opportunity to represent Chhattisgarh in the forthcoming National Football Championship in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The same comprehensive process will be applied to the Sub-Junior and Senior categories, ensuring a meticulous selection and training regimen for all levels.
The initiative underscores a broader commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence in women’s football. By providing a platform for players to exhibit their abilities and passion, NTPC Korba and the Chhattisgarh Football Association are playing a pivotal role in advancing the sport and empowering young women through athletics.
The closing ceremony for this impactful event was held on August 7, 2024, at the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET). The ceremony was graced by CSR officials and members of the CIPET team, who joined in celebrating the achievements of the participants and the success of the championship.
“This initiative is a testament to our dedication to developing sports talent and empowering women through football,” said an NTPC Korba spokesperson. “We are thrilled with the enthusiasm and skill displayed by the players and are excited to see them represent Chhattisgarh on a national stage.”
This Women’s Football Championship and coaching camp not only highlight the commitment of NTPC Korba and the Chhattisgarh Football Association to sports development but also contribute to the broader growth of women’s football in India. The collective effort and vision demonstrated through this initiative set a strong foundation for the future of football in the region.
