A Historic Day for Chhattisgarh as Chief Minister Welcomes Kanwariyas with flower shower from a Helicopter

Raipur, 05 August 2024/ On the auspicious occasion of ‘Saavan’, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai accorded a magnificent welcome to the thousands of Kanwariyas at the ancient, archaeological, religious, and historical site of Baba Bhoramdeo Temple by showering flowers on them from a helicopter. During this historic event, Chief Minister Shri Sai greeted the Kanwariyas and devotees with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bol Bam.” Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma also greeted the Kanwariyas alongside the Chief Minister.
This marks the first time in the history of Chhattisgarh that a Chief Minister has personally welcomed Shiva devotees by showering flowers from a helicopter. On this unique occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai also performed the customary rituals and ‘Rudrabhishek’ of Lord Shiva at Bhoramdeo, praying for the prosperity and happiness of the state.
Chief Minister Shri Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma interacted with the devotees at the temple premises and personally served them Kheer, Puri, rice, and Prasad during ‘Bhandara’. During this event, Pandariya MLA Mrs. Bhawna Bohra, District Panchayat President Mrs. Sushila Ram Kumar Bhatt, Janpad President Mrs. Indrani Chandravanshi, former MLA Shri Ashok Sahu, and Nagar Panchayat President Shri Manharan Kaushik also offered prayers and received blessings from Baba Bhoramdeo.
Historic Event for Shiv Devotees on the auspicious occasion of ‘Saavan Somvaar’
Extending warm greeting of ‘Saavan’ to the devotees, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that he feels fortunate to have the opportunity to seek blessings of Lord Bholenath on the occasion of ‘Saavan Somvaar’. Shri Sai prayed for the peace and prosperity of all the people in the state. This historic event was a significant occasion for Shiva devotees in the holy month of Saavan.
At Baba Bhoramdeo Temple in Kabirdham district, as well as at historical and religious sites like Budha Mahadev and Jaleshwar Mahadev in Dongariya, thousands of Kanwariyas perform ‘Jalabhishek’ annually. During this period, Shiva devotees travel on foot from Amarkantak to offer water at various Shiva temples in Chhattisgarh.
Grand Tradition of Kanwar Yatra
Baba Bhoramdeo Temple, a site of ancient, historical, and archaeological significance dating back to the 11th century, hosts the annual Kanwar Yatra during the Saavan month. In this Kanwar Yatra, devotees carry the holy water of the Narmada River from Amarkantak, traversing challenging paths to perform Jalabhishek at Baba Bhoramdeo, Jaleshwar Mahadev, and Panchmukhi Budha Mahadev. Throughout the journey, they worship Lord Shiva with chants of “Bol Bam.”
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Sai, this year’s Kanwar Yatra was particularly memorable, featuring unprecedented arrangements by the government for welcoming and serving the Kanwariyas.
