Delegation appreciates the model, suggests implementation in other places
Delegation interacts with students and provides information about the working of the Finance Commission of India
Raipur, 12 July 2024/ A delegation from the 16th Finance Commission of India, led by Chairman Shri Arvind Panagariya, visited the library of Nalanda Parisar late on Thursday. Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary accompanied the delegation.
Members Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh and Smt. Annie George Mathew along with Commission Secretary Shri Ritvik Pandey were also present. Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh and other officials welcomed the delegation with roses and Vivekananda literature.
The delegation inquired about the library’s functioning, seating arrangements for students, book issuance procedures, admission process, fees, and security measures.
Shri Panagariya praised Nalanda Parisar, stating, “It is a very good thing that the library has a favorable environment and excellent facilities for students to study. In such an environment, students are studying with full concentration even late at night. There are various arrangements that will help them achieve their goals. Efforts should be made to implement such a model in other places.”
He interacted with students studying there, who asked questions related to the Commission. Shri Panagariya and other members provided insights into the working system of the Finance Commission of India.
Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh informed the Commission members that library membership is available for a fee of Rs 500. Books are purchased periodically based on student demand, with high-demand books acquired in larger quantities to ensure accessibility for members. The library offers a 24/7 study facility for students.
In addition to the library, seating arrangements have been made outside. Dr. Singh also showed the delegation the ground floor, first floor, and rooftop of the library, mentioning plans for additional seating on the rooftop due to high demand.
Innovation in Library Management: RFID System demonstrated to delegation
The officials informed the delegation that an RFID system has been implemented in the library, incorporating a chip in each ID card. This chip is scanned during the book issuance process. A signal alerts the management if a book is taken out without being properly issued, providing real-time information about any unauthorized removals. During the visit, the delegation observed this system in action. When an Indian Polity book was taken out without being issued, the alarm sounded, prompting positive reactions from the members. They expressed satisfaction with this security measure.
