Raipur : Chief Minister’s Directive Brings Relief: Paddy Sales Made Convenient for Kotkud Farmers

Farmers no longer need to travel 45 kilometres to sell paddy

Raipur 03 February 2024 . A wave of happiness sweeps through the farmers of Kotkud village, situated in a remote forest region in Antagarh tehsil of Kanker district, as they no longer need to travel long distances to sell their paddy. Now, they find it much easier to sell their produce in the nearby village of Amabeda. This convenience comes as a result of directives from Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, who prioritized the welfare of the farmers by facilitating the relocation of the paddy procurement center.

Previously, farmers from Kotkud were registered for paddy sales at Adim Jati Sewa Sahkari Samiti Maryadit Matla ‘B’, situated 45 kilometres away, resulting in considerable travel time and effort. The farmers had urged the administration to arrange for paddy procurement nearby. In response to the farmers’ pleas, their accounts were transferred to the procurement center in the nearby Amabeda village, just 5 kilometres from Kotkud. Since January 30, farmers have been flocking to the Amabeda center to sell their paddy, with tokens issued promptly for their convenience. Farmers have extended their heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for fulfilling their demands.
