Intensified battle against Naxalism under our Government’s leadership
High-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister to review progress in Naxal Eradication Campaign
Raipur, 01 February 2024 . Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai chaired a high-level meeting late on Wednesday at Mahanadi Bhawan, attended by top police and administration officials, to conduct a comprehensive review of Naxal Eradication Campaign (Naxal Unmulan Abhiyan).
Speaking about the the significant strides made in combating the Naxal insurgency since the formation of this government, Chief Minister stated “Our police personnel are resolutely battling against the Naxalites. Our anti-Naxal campaigns are escalating, with the continuous establishment of security camps. The previous government had not adequately addressed the issue of Naxalism, but our security forces are earnestly engaged in eradicating Maoist presence. Our priority is not only to expel them from Chhattisgarh but also to wipe out all bits and pieces of their existence.”
Shri Sai directed officials to ensure the provision of basic amenities to residents around security camps. Following his visit to Jagdalpur to pay homage to the soldiers who lost their lives in an encounter with Naxalites on January 30 in Tekulagudem village of Jagargunda police station area in Sukma district, Chief Minister Shri Sai promptly convened a high-level meeting upon his return. He reiterated the imperative of efforts to eradicate Naxalites from the state, affirming the Government’s unwavering commitment to this cause. He also stressed the need for effective action and a concrete strategy for this purpose.
Chief Minister expressed firm resolve, stating, “The recent attacks on our security forces by Naxalites, fueled by their distress over our intensified campaign against them in the last 1.5 months, are utterly deplorable. We must respond to them resolutely.”
He further highlighted the strategic importance of the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, stating, “The establishment of camps, even in remote and inaccessible areas, has left the Maoists uneasy, prompting cowardly retaliatory attacks. We must remain vigilant and foil their nefarious intentions.”
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai instructed top police officials to enhance the effectiveness of their information systems and expedite action against Naxalites. He stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance during search operations in Naxal-affected areas to expose the intentions of Maoists and neutralize their threats.
