No inconvenience should be caused to people in terms of essential commodity supply, concerned officials to be held accountable if any disturbance occurs in law and order – Chief Minister Shri Sai

Chief Minister directs Collectors and SPs to ensure that people do not face any problem due to the nationwide strike of truck drivers

Raipur, 2 January 2024/ In view of the nationwide strike of truck drivers, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed the senior officials and Collectors-SPs of all the districts to ensure that there is no shortage of essential commodities for the general public. In the same sequence, Shri Sai has reviewed the ground situation regarding the availability of essential commodities in the state through video conferencing. Chief Minister further said that if any inconvenience is caused to the common people in terms of essential commodity supply, and the law and order situation is perturbed due to the same, then the Collector-Superintendent of Police of the district concerned will be held accountable. Divisional Commissioners, Inspector General of Police along with Collectors and SPs of the districts participated in this video conference held from Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan.
Chief Minister said that correct information should be provided to the common people of the state, and misleading news should be prevented. Action should be taken against those spreading rumours. Officials should inquire about the availability of petrol, diesel, medicines, fruits, vegetables, grains and ensure its continuous supply. Police should patrol continuously and keep an eye on the situation. A control room should be created at the state and district level which will operate 24 hours. Immediate action should be taken if the supply of any essential item is disrupted. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the administration should speak to all the stockholders and check whether hoarding is taking place.
In view of the sudden strike by the transporters, Chief Minister Shri Sai has given instructions to continue the transportation of petrol, diesel and LPG and other essential commodities in the state and ensure supply of the same.
To avoid any kind of disruption, instructions have also been given to appoint the staff of revenue, police and food department on duty for the entry and exit of vehicles in the petroleum-diesel depots and LPG depots operated in the state. Shri Sai has given instructions to make necessary arrangements at all the toll points and outposts, and to constitute a district level monitoring team with oil company officials for smooth availability and distribution of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG.

On this occasion, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Manoj Kumar Pingua, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. P. Dayanand, Food Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma and Director Food Mr. Jitendra Shukla and other officers were present.
