Raipur, 21 December , Keeping Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s promise to the farmers of the state, the state government has issued an order to procure 21 quintals of paddy per acre from the farmers at the support price. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has said that Chhattisgarh Government will keep all its promises to the people. Paddy will be procured from the farmers of the state at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal. Procurement of 1 lakh 30 thousand metric tons of paddy is estimated in the state this year. About Rs 40 thousand crore will be paid to the farmers in lieu of paddy procurement at support price.
It is noteworthy that until recently, only 15 quintals of paddy was being procured from farmers at support price in the state. Newly-formed government has increased this quantity to 21 quintals. Now paddy will be procured at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal, and farmers will receive additional profit of Rs 23,355 per acre on the sale of paddy. Previous government was paying a maximum of Rs 41,745 to the farmers on procurement of 15 quintals of paddy per acre, including the amount of input subsidy paid in four installments. Implementing Prime Minister Modi ji’s guarantee in the state, the newly-formed government is all set to procure 21 quintals of paddy from farmers at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal. As a result, farmers will receive a total payment of Rs 65,100 per acre for selling paddy, which is Rs 23,355 more than what they have been previously receiving for selling paddy.
Chief Minister has directed the officials concerned to make proper arrangements in all the procurement centers of the state to make the process of selling paddy more convenient for the farmers. Chief Minister said that the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 25th December will be celebrated as National Good Governance Day. On December 25, as per the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, farmers of the state will be paid the paddy bonus amount of Rs 3716 crore 38 lakh 96 thousand, which was outstanding for 2 years.
Maximum limit of procurement for Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Department will be 21 quintals of paddy per with linking. Farmers who have already sold their paddy at support price will also be given the facility to sell paddy as per the revised upper limit of procurement. It is noteworthy that in Chhattisgarh, paddy procurement at support price has commenced from November 01 this year. 26 lakh 86 thousand farmers have registered themselves to sell paddy at support price. The registered paddy area is 33 lakh 15 thousand hectares. So far, about 9.25 lakh farmers have sold 42.20 lakh metric tons of paddy at support price.
