Raipur, 5 October 2023/ Our freedom fighters are our pride. They sacrificed their lives to protect motherland and to serve humanity. Padmashree Late Dr. Mahadev Prasad Pandey took part in the freedom struggle from the young age of 13, while social worker Late Shri Narayan Prasad Awasthi gave up five villages of his livelihood for the development of Ayurveda education. Like our ancestors Dadhichi, they sacrificed everything for the country. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel expressed aforementioned thoughts on the occasion of unveiling of the statue of freedom fighter and Padmashree Dr. Mahadev Prasad Pandey and social worker Late Shri Narayan Prasad Awasthi at Late Narayan Prasad Awasthi Government Ayurvedic College. Chief Minister said that Devada is close to my native village and 13 freedom fighters were arrested simultaneously in this village. At that time, Dr. Pandey was a minor and the police were in a dilemma about arresting him because despite being young, he was strongly resisting the British.


Chief Minister said that he studied in Science College, and back in those days he would often get to hear the stories about the charity of Late Shri Narayan Prasad Awasthi in the adjacent Ayurvedic College. Narayan Prasad ji donated five villages of his land revenue. He presented a wonderful example of generosity by donating his assets for the improvement of education and health and for the advancement of Ayurveda.
Chief Minister said- our scriptures have taught us that accumulation of wealth is meaningful only when it is used to spread the light of knowledge. Today, we have gathered in this college premises to attend this beautiful program to promote Ayurveda, it is an ode to Narayan Prasad ji’s generosity.
On this occasion, Chief Minister also met the family members of Dr. Pandey and Mr. Awasthi. He also distributed pattas to the beneficiaries of Rajiv Gandhi Aashray Yojana. On this occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Vikas Upadhyay also addressed the programme. Dr. Pandey was the principal of this institution and Mr. Awasthi had donated the land for this. And now every day hundreds of people get to avail the treatment and healthcare services through Ayurvedic College. Former MLA Shri Virendra Pandey also addressed the program.
On this occasion, MLA Mr. Satyanarayan Sharma, Raipur Mayor Mr. Ejaz Dhebar, Chairman of State Gau Seva Commission Rajshree Mahant Dr. Ramsundar Das, Municipal Corporation Chairman Mr. Pramod Dubey, Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, Principal of the college Dr. GR Chaturvedi and other public representatives and officials were present.
