Priyanshi no longer has to travel long distances to reach school

The purpose of the Swami Atmanand English Medium School, operated by the Chhattisgarh government, is to provide quality education to rural children in remote areas similar to that in metros. Today, even children from government English medium schools are fluent in spoken English. In the past, students in areas like Kondagaon had to travel long distances to reach school, but now schools have reached the villages themselves.

One such story is of Priyanshi, a resident of Mardapal village, who no longer has to travel long distances as she is receiving education in the English medium right in her own village, thanks to the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel. Due to the absence of an English medium school in the region, her elder brother arranged her admission at the Swami Atmanand School in Jamkotpara, Kondagaon after her 8th class. Consequently, Priyanshi had to cover a distance of 32 kilometres from Mardapal to reach school. Due to her father’s absence, her elder brother, Shivaram Sahu, who runs his own business, was unable to accompany her to school daily. Many times, she had to go to school alone. With hard work and dedication, Priyanshi passed her 9th grade with first division.

During Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel’s visit to Mardapal, the locals requested the opening of a Swami Atmanand English Medium School in the village. The school started in the 2023-24 academic session, and Priyanshi took admitted in the 10th grade. Priyanshi expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister, stating that she no longer has to travel long distances to go to school. She is very happy that an English medium school has opened in her village.

Notably, a total of 14 Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools have been established in the Kondagaon district to provide excellent education to students. Six new schools were started this academic year. More than 7,000 children are studying in these schools. Children from sensitive rural areas like Kongud, Dhanora, and Mardapal are now receiving quality English education.
