Krishna Kunj : Plantation drive in Chhattisgarh to increase greenery, Culturally significant trees have started growing

So far, almost 55 thousand saplings have been planted on 224 acres in 169 urban bodies

Raipur. 11 April . In yet another initiative towards further strengthening its efforts Chhattisgarh government has developed Krishna Kunj in the state’s urban areas. After just one year, these Krishna Kunj have begun to take shape as lush green trees. So far under this scheme, 55 thousand 781 saplings have been planted in 169 urban bodies across the state, covering approximately 224 acres of land.

On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel started the ambitious Krishna Kunj Yojana in the entire state by himself by planting trees in Krishna Kunj in Telibandha, Raipur. On the same day, tree planting with public participation took place in the Krishna Kunj, which was built in the state’s urban areas.

It should be mentioned that, in accordance with the Chief Minister’s objective, work is being done to connect people with tree plantations at Krishna Kunj by planting trees of cultural and religious significance. Where trees such as sandalwood, rudraksha, banyan, peepal, and kadamba are planted to maintain environmental balance and provide enough oxygen. Similarly, fruit trees such as mango, tamarind, ber, Ganga imli, jamun, tendu, chironji, pomegranate, kaitha, neem, Palash, bel, and amla are also planted along with these culturally significant trees.
