Nearly 1.27 liters of ‘gaumutra’ procured in Gauthans

Brahmastra and Jeevamrit worth Rs 25.74 lakh sold

Raipur, 05 February . Production and use of organic insecticide ‘Brahmastra’ and crop enhancer ‘Jeevamrit’ from ‘Gaumutra’ has been started in the state. A total of 1 lakh 26 thousand 858 liters of ‘Gaumutra’ (cow urine) has been purchased in Gauthans at the rate of Rs 4 per litre. Nearly 47, 447 liters of pest controller Brahmastra and 21,000 liters of growth enhancer Jeevamrit have been produced by women self-help groups in Gauthans. So far, 59, 557 liters of Brahmastra and Jeevamrit worth Rs 25 lakh 74 thousand 355 have been purchased by the farmers.

Production of 27.56 lakh quintals of compost manure from cow dung Under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, more than 27.56 lakh quintals of compost have been produced so far by the women groups associated with Gauthans. This includes 22 lakh 5 thousand 138 quintal vermicompost, more than 5 lakh 50 thousand 862 quintal super compost, and 18,924 quintals super compost plus manure, which are being sold through societies at the rate of Rs 10, Rs 6, and Rs 6.50 per kg respectively.

In addition, the women groups are earning additional income with the production and sale of ‘Go-kasht’, earthen lamps, incense sticks, idols, and other useful materials from cow dung. Apart from this, commercial production of vegetables and mushrooms, poultry, goat, and fish farming, and animal husbandry as well as various other income-oriented activities are being conducted by the women groups in Gauthans, due to which they have earned an income of Rs 105.67 crore so far. A total of 11,885 women self-help groups comprising 1,36,123 members are directly associated with Gauthans in the state. Electricity and natural paint and other products are also being produced from procured cow dung in Gauthans.

More than 3.23 lakh villagers benefited: Gauthans are being constructed rapidly in the villages for the protection and promotion of cattle in the state. Free-of-cost arrangement for livestock care, treatment, fodder, and water is available here. Approval has been given for the construction of Gauthans in 10,743 villages in the state so far, out of which 9671 Gothans have been built and the remaining are under construction. 3 lakh 23 thousand 983 rural, cattle rearers are being benefited from the Godhan Nyaya Yojana.

About 17.58 lakh quintals of paddy stubble collected in Gauthans On the appeal of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, farmers in large numbers are enthusiastically reaching Gauthans to donate paddy stubble as fodder for cattle. Farmers who have tractors or other means available for transporting stubble, are themselves providing assistance for the transportation of paddy stubble to Gauthans. The stubble thus donated by the farmers is also being collected by the Gauthan committees and brought to the Gauthans. Nearly 17.58 lakh quintals of paddy stubble are available in Gauthans as fodder for the cattle.
