‘Grand Mahtari Vandan Sammelan–2026’ to Be Held in Bastar on International Women’s Day: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to Release 25th Instalment of Mahtari Vandan Yojana

In 25th instalment, Rs 16,237.33 Crore Will Be Transferred to more than 69 Lakh Women Beneficiaries

Raipur, March 7, 2026//

On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, the ‘Grand Mahtari Vandan Sammelan–2026’ will be organised in Bastar district on Sunday. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will attend the programme as the chief guest and will release the 25th instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana into the bank accounts of women across the state during the conference.

The programme will be presided over by Dr Raman Singh, Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Vijay Sharma and Shri Arun Sao, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade, and Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap will be present as special guests, along with several public representatives, MPs, MLAs, and officials from various commissions and boards.

Organised by the state’s Women and Child Development Department, the conference aims to honour women’s strength, promote women’s empowerment and encourage their social and economic participation. Departmental stalls will also be set up at the venue to provide information to women about various government schemes, self-employment opportunities and nutrition-related programmes.

Notably, under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana being implemented by the Government of Chhattisgarh for women’s economic empowerment, more than 69 lakh women in the state are being benefitted. With the release of the 25th instalment, a total amount of Rs 16,237.33 crore will be been transferred to the bank accounts of women beneficiaries.

Through the scheme, women are receiving regular financial assistance, enabling them to meet family needs while also focusing on children’s education, health and nutrition. The initiative is proving to be a significant step towards strengthening women’s self-respect and economic self-reliance.

During the programme, a special initiative will also be undertaken to economically empower former Naxal women who have surrendered and returned to the mainstream in the Bastar division. Under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, these women will be provided interest-free loans of up to Rs 1 lakh each through the Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will also distribute ‘Lakshmi-Sakhi Millet Kits’ to them.

With the support of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, these women are being trained in the preparation of millet-based food products so that they can earn a livelihood by producing and selling these items and enhance their income through self-employment.

The large-scale conference being organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day will serve as an important initiative to promote women’s dignity, self-reliance and social empowerment. A large number of women, members of self-help groups and beneficiaries of various schemes are expected to participate in the event, further strengthening the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
