Mumbai: The upcoming film The Diary of Manipur has landed in fresh controversy after a written complaint was filed against its director Sanoj Mishra at the DN Nagar Police Station in Mumbai. The complaint was submitted by Chander Kala Singh, President (Women) of the Maharashtra State Global Christian Action Committee.

According to the complaint, certain scenes and dialogues in the film and its teaser allegedly hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community. It claims that the content portrays elements that suggest disrespect toward places of worship, disruption of religious gatherings, and situations that could potentially create discord among communities.

The complaint references provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, specifically Sections 295, 295A, 296, 298, and 153A, which relate to offenses concerning religious sentiments and promoting enmity between groups. Chander Kala Singh has also demanded that the teaser be immediately removed from YouTube, alleging that it contains objectionable material offensive to Christian beliefs.

Responding to the allegations, director Sanoj Mishra has categorically denied the charges, calling them a conspiracy by his detractors. He stated, “This is an indirect attack by my enemies. We have full faith in the law of the country. We are consulting our legal team and will soon issue a formal response.”

Police officials have confirmed receipt of the complaint, and an investigation is currently underway. The development has sparked discussion within the film industry and among social organizations, with many closely watching how the matter unfolds in the coming days.
