BALCO Showcases Community Development and Aluminium Excellence at Pali Mahotsav

Korba, 18 February 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a part of Vedanta Aluminium, reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive community development and manufacturing excellence through active participation in the two-day Pali Mahotsav organised by the District Administration, Korba. The exhibition was witnessed by Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan, (Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of Chhattisgarh) and Smt. Jyotsna Mahant, (MP, Lok Sabha).

BALCO’s pavilion showcased a range of aluminium products, reinforcing aluminium as the metal of the future, alongside a diverse display of handmade products created by women from self-help groups under Project Unnatti. The exhibit featured traditional art forms such as Gonkara, Lipan, mirror work and mural art, reflecting local craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Visitors also explored traditional Chhattisgarhi food items, including saloni, khaja badi, etc, prepared by women of Project Unnati.

In addition to art and cuisine, the stall displayed indigenous rice and millet varieties cultivated by farmers under BALCO’s ‘Mor Jal Mor Maati’ initiative. This further highlighted BALCO’s efforts in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting women-led entrepreneurship in nearby communities.

Observing the pavilion, Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan appreciated the company’s interventions and stated, “The work undertaken by BALCO in the areas of women empowerment, education, healthcare and livelihood generation reflects a strong commitment to grassroots development.”

Interacting with women entrepreneurs from the self-help groups, Smt. Jyotsna Mahant said, “BALCO’s Project Unnati has created meaningful opportunities for women to achieve financial independence and strengthen their participation in community development.”

BALCO’s sustained CSR initiatives have positively impacted over two lakh individuals across 123 neighbouring villages, reinforcing its commitment to advancing sustainable development and contributing as a responsible aluminium manufacturer for inclusive growth.
